The SCC Foundation is an on-going project of SCC Chartered Accountants, aiming to provide perpetual support to the community through fund raising initiatives and being actively involved in the social and economic needs of Geelong and the wider community.
This year, 19 employees from SCC participated in Geelong’s Relay for Life, helping to raise funds for cancer research, education and support programs. The 2008 Relay was held at Beckley Park on February 23rd to 24th, with employees walking or running for 24 hours. Over $316,000 was raised by the 96 teams comprised of over 2000 participants. Highlights of the event were the moving Candlelight Ceremony and the Survivors and Carers walk which opened the event. Although the relay was physically demanding, it was a great team experience, and an event in which we will aim to be involved in every year.
Looking to the future, we will continue to be conscious members of our community who take pride in being respected for our efforts and involvement in all aspects of what it means to be socially responsible. As a firm, we will be committed to helping those less fortunate, or those who are in need of help pursuing their own goals and dreams.
