Wheadon's Transport

To say that Colac based Wheadon’s Transport is a family affair, is something of an understatement. After all, while there are more than a few family businesses around, not many can boast of being family run and operated for the last 70 years.

Wheadon’s Transport was founded in 1938 by relatives of Ray Wheadon, the current Managing Director. The family connection has been there ever since, with Ray’s father becoming involved in the business in its early days.

In 1972, Ray and his wife Maureen took over the control of the company, and now along with their two sons manage and run this successful local and interstate transport business. Having experienced growth often reserved for the public companies Wheadon’s Transport has earned a reputation that is sought out by some of the major Australian companies such as Coles Myer Group, Tolls, Farm Pride just to name but a small portion.

Wheadon’s Transport operates up and down the Eastern seaboard from Adelaide to Brisbane and whilst the cartage of livestock and frozen meats is a core activity, the business also has a particular specialisation – the transport of eggs using custom design vans.

Ray believes his business success is based on a hands-on approach Currently operating a mixed fleet of around 54 trucks plus trailers. With his two sons fully involved with running the livestock and interstate divisions respectively, it’s highly likely Wheadon’s Transport will remain a family business for many years to come.

SCC Chartered Accountants hold Ray and his team at Wheadon’s Transport in high regard and wish them every continued success into the future.
